Wenhai Zhang
Born in 1981
Enrolled in the Department of Chinese Painting, Shanghai University Academy of Fine Arts in 1999.
Obtained a Bachelor's degree in the Department of Printmaking, Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, Belgium in 2007.
Receved a Master's degree in the Department of Printmaking, Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, Belgium in 2009.
Teaches at the Confucius Institute in Brussels, Belgium and the Belgium-China Association.
Teaches at the Chinese Cultural Center in Brussels, Belgium.
Wenhai Zhang's works integrate the texture of objects, traces, personal intuition, and life experiences into the paintings. Through elements such as human figures, broken lines, full moons, paper airplanes, tattered kites, and fragmented spaces, he expresses his homesickness after nearly 20 years in Belgium and his experiences of living in a foreign land.
